IvyThe daughter of Indian immigrants, Pooja Chandrashekar, from the prestigious Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology, in Virginia near Washington D.C., was admitted to all eight Ivy League universities with a 4.57 grade-point average, 2390 out of 2400 on the SAT, and aced all 13 of her Advanced Placement exams. Pooja is the only daughter of two engineers who immigrated to the U.S. from Bangalore, India.

Pooja was admitted to all 14 schools to which she applied. Not only will she be able to choose from among the prestigious Ivy League schools (Harvard, Yale, Princeton, Cornell, Dartmouth, Columbia, Brown, and the University of Pennsylvania), Pooja was also admitted to Stanford, MIT, Duke, the University of Virginia, the University of Michigan and Georgia Tech.

In addition to her stellar GPA and test scores, Pooja founded a non-profit organization that promotes Science Technology Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) programs for girls. Even more impressive is the fact that she developed a mobile app that recognizes speech patterns and is able to detect if someone has Parkinson’s Disease with 96% accuracy. Pooja also attended robotics programs during her summers and studied web design and game programming. Showing great promise from a young age, in middle school, Pooja built a windmill to explore renewable energy.
