Finally, Korean students wishing to learn English can learn the same way American children learn English. A New York based company, English Hound (www.EnglishHound.com), is now offering its online English reading and writing classes in Korea. English Hound was started by attorneys and educators who graduated from Ivy League and other top schools in the U.S., and until now, its classes were only offered in the U.S. to its elite clientele, mainly the children of Ivy League graduates. Berkeley and the University of Michigan Law School graduate who worked as an attorney at a top U.S. law firm, replied: “In high school and college, students will receive essay exams or term papers and they will need to write well if they want to get top grades. Even after college, people will need to write well for work. I have heard so many hiring managers complain about poor writing skills from applicants.”
Asked what sets English Hound apart from thousands of other English learning programs in Korea, Founder and CEO Haewon Helen Whang simply replied: “Our teachers and us.” Indeed, unlike many of the native English speakers teaching in Korea, English Hound teachers are all certified English teachers with masters degrees in education; some even obtained doctorate degrees in education or English.
