The program offers a full range of activities, including art, physical education, swimming, dance/movement, nature study, gardening, and music. Fieldston Outdoors offers a special focus on the environment, nature, and the Hudson River, about which campers learn through songs, stories, folklore, and crafts presented by staff specialists and visiting artists. Our older campers, 5th and 6th graders, develop their own program call SPP (Special Projects Program). These are week-long intensive experiences in such activities as cooking, skills in a particular sport, orienteering, bird habitat study, writing the camp newspaper and more.

This program offers a wide range of age-appropriate sports including, but not limited to, soccer, basketball, baseball, softball, flag football, lacrosse, and swimming. We promote sportsmanship, teamwork, and safety while introducing campers to the fundamentals of our many sports.

Activities are based on camper interests in areas such as free play, cooking, sports, science, creative movement, water play, and board games. Under the close supervision of experienced counselors, children also go on a special outing and adventure during Session I. A talent show is held at the end of Session II, when parents and families and friends are invited to come and watch their budding stars.

A full immersion language experience. With fully bilingual teachers and counselors in training, campers will learn and practice their vocabulary and conversational skills exploring the art, music, cuisine, and other cultural aspects of different countries and regions across Central and South America, the Caribbean and Europe.

Stage de Français (French Program)

All students should be prepared to speak only French for the entire duration of the program. In order to ensure this, all students will be required to fill out a pledge before the program begins. Students will participate in many different fun activities, including writing and performing stories, cooking, singing and listening to music, playing games, watching movies, and speaking together about new vocabulary and grammar that relate to the activities. There will be some excursions as well, to the Metropolitan Museum to look at French art, to a French restaurant, and to Le Petit Belge, a Belgian waffle place, now well known among Fieldston French students.
